Frequently Asked Questions...

Makeup for Fair Skinned People?

I wear a 102 (N) in Clinique pressed power (or stay buff). I have very fair skin. I am afraid my makeup looks all wrong. I have been doing white/cream eyeshadow, Navy eyeliner (I have hunter green with a mix of emerald green eyes) a light bronzer, and pinkish lips. I got this from Seventeen. Do you think that is good for fair skin? Sometimes I use a dusty gold or gray shadow. (I use all Clinique, MAC, and Sephora products)
Foundation-Clinque Pressed Power 102 (Its the round compact)
Mascara-Clinque Jet Black (01)
Eyeshadow-I have a sephora palette but I use mainly MAC Shroom
Eyeliner-Clinique Navy (14)
MAC Lip Glass-Pink Poodle (it looks great when you apply it with your finger and MAC luster glass in Sinnabun.
And MACS bronzer- I forgot the name right now.
Does that flatter fair skin person?

Answer:

Dandelion by Benefit is the perfect blush for pale skinned people. So is Dame by Mac. And Laguna bronzer by Nars and Hoola by Benefit work well for bronzing, and I'm very pale skinned.

Also, try not to use the very darkest shade of mascara, a dark charcoal gray works well for people with fair skin. Mac Shroom is a great choice though. You could also try Stila's Gold Glow eyeshadow trio, it's extremely flattering on my light skin. Silvery tones are also excellent, any cool icy tones actually. And dark blues for your crease colour work well.

And for us light skinned girls, we need to stay away from peach tones! Mac lipglasses (stick to the sheer pink tones, stay away from peach and orange based reds) are great for pale gals coz they're sheer but still provide that glossiness and hint of colour that we want, without being too overpowering to the rest of our face.

And we need to highlight, sometimes pale skin can look quite flat...after you've added definition with bronzer and contour (Nars contour duos are great!) don't forget to highlight. Anything with a hint of frost/shimmer (Nars makes some great whitish creamy shades that work well as highlight colours, so does Mac, and for something a bit cheaper Physicians Formula has those trios- the one in 'Baked Sands' has the most amazing bone colour that looks fantastic as a highlight.) on the very top of your cheekbones, under your eyebrows and bridge of nose.

As for the foundation, Clinique is okay, but Mac mineralized skinfinishes are so much better for fair skin. Use it over the top of a tinted moisturizer for more coverage, but because it's pressed minerals it's not cakey.
